CÉSAR JEREZ A practitioner of both plein air painting and studio work, Cesar Jerez achieves an atmospheric presence in his landscape paintings. After several years of figurative study at the Arts Students League in New York under Robert Beverly Hale and Gustave Rehberger, Jerez truned his attention to painting at the Ridgewood Art Instititute in New Jersey under Arthur Maynard, himself a disciple of League instructor Frank Vincent Dumond.
Jerez uses the effects of light in his paintings to create a sense of distance and drama while represeting both the weather conditions and specific time of day. As a self-termed "abstract realist" Jerez captures the life of the subject by identifying the essential components in the most simplistic manner without losing form and strong compositition.
Cesar Jerez is an annual participant in the Plein Air Easton Invitational in Easton, Maryland. Jerez has also been honored with inclusion in the National Arts Club annaul show where he has been an award winner. He has also been accepted into the Annual Juried Show at Salmugundi Club in New York, Hudson Valley Art Association Annual Exhibit, Ridgewood Art Institiute Regional Juried Show, the Lambertville Historical Annual Art Exhibit and the Phillips' Mill Annual Juried Art Exhibit.
