Donald W. Patterson, AWS, NWS,
PWCS, PWS is an artists whose work deals with light and
texture, composition and color. He has been lauded as a
master in these areas of this most difficult medium. .
Don Patterson is an internationally recognized
watercolorist. He has exhibited in museums and galleries
across the United States, Japan and Canada. Patterson is
a consistent award winner in regional, national and international
juried exhibitions, among them the Best of Show award for
the 100th Anniversary Exhibiton of the Philadelphia Water
Color Society. Patterson has been elected to membership
in the American Watercolor Scoiety, the National Watercolor
Society, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and is an
Honarary Life Member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society,
where he served for seventeen years on the Board of Directors.
Patterson is a regular featured artist in
publications such as American Artist Magazine, and U.S.
Art magazine. He has also been published numerous times
in the Artist's Magazine. He was one of ninety top American
watercolorists chosen for the books "Splash II," "Splash
IV" and "Splash V" published by North Light. His work is
also published in three books by Rockport Publishers, "Best
of Watercolor 2", "Painting Light and Shadow" and "Painting
Texture". He is one of nine artists who collaborated on
a book entitled, "The Many Moods of Light" published by
North Light, and with twenty artists on a book ,"Keys to
Painting Trees and Foliage." In addition, Patterson has
written his own book, "Creating Watercolor Landscapes Using
Photographs."
Don Patterson has received many awards during his career.
Among them are The Rouse Gold Medallion in the 2003 Adirondacks
National Exhibition of American Watercolors, The Phillips
Mill Juried Art Exhibition 2004 Best Traditional Landscape,
Galaxy 2004, Best of Show, and an Award Winner in the Artist's
Magazine's 2005 Art Competion.
