George Thompson received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in New York. Thompson had a successful career as an editorial illustrator, his work appeared in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and New York Magazine. He now works full time as a fine artist. Thompson paints and draws in the traditional style, his landscapes, still lifes and portraits are noted for their lush color and life. Since moving to Bucks County in 2000, George has been greatly influenced by the Bucks County Impressionists.
Thompson has been the recipient of many prestigious awards, both locally and nationally. He has been recognized by the Artist's Magazine for the past six years where he's won awarrds in the portrait/figure, landscape and still life categories of their National Competitions. His work has been featured on the cover of the Artist's Magazine numerous times. George Thompson's art has been exhibited at the Woodmere Museum in Philadelphia, The Art Students League in New York, The Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Trenton State Museum at Ellarslie Mansion in New Jersey.
